<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical belt-shaped seal body that prevents exhaust gas from leaking therethrough, prevents abnormal noise from being generated and has a stable sealing property, and to provide a method of manufacturing the spherical belt-shaped seal body. <P>SOLUTION: The spherical belt-shaped seal body 1 has a seal body 4 formed by compressing a heat-resistant material 2 and a reinforcing material 3 formed of a wire mesh, filling the mesh of the wire mesh of the reinforcing material 3 with the heat-resistant material 2 to integrate the heat-resistant material 2 with the reinforcing material 3. The seal body 4 includes a cylindrical inner circumferential surface 6 that defines a through hole 5, an outer circumferential surface 10 formed with a partially protruding spherical surface 7, and ring-shaped end faces 8 and 9 provided at a large-diameter side and a small-diameter side of the partially protruding spherical surface 7, respectively. The seal body 4 contains the reinforcing material 3 of 15 to 80 wt.%, and the heat-resistant material 2 of 20 to 85 wt.%.
