IGNITION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine, capable of discharging in a wide range.

SOLUTION: A microwave generating power supply 32 generates microwaves of a frequency to resonate in a combustion chamber 14 of the internal combustion engine 10. A microwave radiator 34 radiates the microwaves generated by the microwave generating power supply 32 toward the inside of the combustion chamber 14. A protruded part 20 is provided at a position on the top surface of a piston 13 facing the combustion chamber 14, where the electric field strength of the microwaves radiated by the microwave radiator 34 is relatively high.
