Method of managing the energy of a rail vehicle comprising a plurality of on-board energy sources and of consumers of electrical energy, said method involving the steps of: defining at least two operating frequency domains (62, 64, 66) of the vehicle; allocating at least one source of the plurality of sources to each defined frequency domain; and, within each frequency domain, operating the vehicle in order as a matter of priority to use the source allocated to that frequency domain when the vehicle is running in that domain.
