When a camera image which is an image of an object in the actual external world captured by a camera (21) attached to the head of an observer together with a HMD (12), is displayed by a monitor device (130) to a person other than the observer, image processing is performed to the camera image so that the object is appropriately displayed on the monitor device (130). The inclined angle of the head of the observer relative to the direction of gravitational force is detected, and image inclination correction is performed so that the inclination of the camera image relative to the direction of gravitational force is corrected in the direction opposite to the detected inclination angle by the substantially same angle. The camera image subjected to the image inclination correction is displayed on a screen (150) of the monitor device (130) as a monitor image.
