<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a transmissive liquid crystal display, which develops four colors by optical rotation dispersion of a cellulose-based film in a transmissive me for light. <P>SOLUTION: A polychromatic optical laminate is obtained by combining and laminating a nematic liquid crystal layer or a smectic liquid crystal layer with a TN cell and a cellulose-based film; and the optical laminate has optical rotation dispersion and light-controlling property in a transmissive mode for transmitting light and gives four colors in a specified wavelength range of light received by laminate. A circularly polarizing plate is laminated on a liquid crystal cell and a black-and-white display mode at a part of a crossed Nicol arrangement on a panel, so as to achieve an effective state and vivid four-color hue. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
