<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling a portable terminal from an integrated operation device for vehicle using voice. <P>SOLUTION: An integrated operation device 100 for vehicle receives image representations of current user interface (UI) screens 122, 222, and 262 of a portable terminal 120. The integrated operation device 100 for vehicle determines positions of candidates for input mechanisms 124-130, 224-234, and 264-274 by examining the image representations of the current UI screens 122, 222, and 262. The candidates for the input mechanisms 124-130, 224-234, and 264-274 can be examined using character recognition processing. Consequently, speech recognition commands for the input mechanisms 124-130, 224-234, and 264-274 are determined. The determined speech recognition commands and positions thereof on the UI screens are stored in a speech recognition database.
