<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently extracting polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) from an insulating oil of a transformer etc. contaminated with the PCB in low concentration. <P>SOLUTION: The insulating oil contaminated with PCB in low concentration is mixed with methanol or acetonitrile. The PCB is selectively extracted by the methanol or the acetonitrile, the PCB is removed from the insulating oil until reaching a reference value or lower, and the PCB is separated.
