An illumination device having a light source, a light-guidance means for guiding light from the light source, and a base to which the light source is attached, the illumination device characterized in having a gap for allowing a positioning pin or pin-receiving unit provided to the base, and a pin-receiving unit or positioning pin provided to the light-guidance means to engage with each other, the gap also being designed to alleviate heat expansion between the positioning pin and the pin-receiving section. Provided thereby is an illumination device in which the effect of heat-induced expansion of members can be alleviated and bending of the light-guidance plate can be suppressed.
