To improve deterioration of reception sensitivity caused by deterioration of analog characteristics in an optical receiver, an optical receiver comprises: a first coefficient calculator for calculating a first equalizing filter coefficient that compensates for a first waveform distortion originating in an optical transmission line; a second coefficient calculator for setting in advance a second equalizing filter coefficient that compensates for a second waveform distortion originating in the deterioration of the analog characteristics of a structural component; a coefficient computer for computing the first equalizing filter coefficient and the second equalizing filter coefficient and outputting a third equalizing filter coefficient; and a waveform equalization processor for performing an equalization process on an input signal that includes the first waveform distortion and the second waveform distortion on the basis of the third equalizing filter coefficient, the waveform equalization processor including a waveform equalization filter for correcting both the first waveform distortion and the second waveform distortion and outputting an output signal.
