<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for connecting two components, a mounting member for the mechanism, and a vehicle mirror assembly including the mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A first component 6 has a tubular flange member 8 with at least one end opened, and a first contact surface 60 and a first groove 26 are provided in the flange member 8. A second component 4 has a mounting member 12 that can be inserted into the flange member 8 with a clearance, and the mounting member 12 has a base 14. In the base 14, a first holding protrusion 36 to be fitted into a first groove 26 and a guide plane 58 arranged behind the first holding protrusion 36 are formed. The guide plane 58 is associated with a first contact surface 60, and is inclined at an acute angle relative to the first contact surface 60. A fixing means 44 is a surface 22 opposed to the first contact surface 60, penetrates the flange member 8, presses a first pressurizing surface 66 on the base 14 during operation.
