<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve dust collection efficiency by making an applied voltage higher while suppressing occurrence of a spark discharge. <P>SOLUTION: A wet electrostatic precipitator includes a DC high-voltage generation part 3 which generates a DC high voltage, a DC high-voltage input part 2 which has a capacitor 41 smoothing the DC high voltage V generated by the DC high-voltage generation part 3, a discharge electrode which is applied with the DC high voltage output from the DC high-voltage input part 2, and a dust collection electrode which collects fine particles by a negative corona discharge generated with the discharge electrode based upon the DC high voltage.
