<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a portable terminal to be properly used in a state where a first housing and a second housing are partially opened. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 1 refers to a detection result of an open sensor 15 and a result of a determination as to whether or not a specific application is operating. If the specific application is operating, the CUP 1 maintains the current display contents for the time taken for the state of both housings to change from a closed state to a fully opened state.
