<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a VA type liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing deterioration of display performance even when used under a high temperature and high humidity condition for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: In the VA type liquid crystal display device which includes at least a display panel section having at least a first polarizer, a first optical element formed of one or two layers, a VA type liquid crystal cell, a second optical element formed of one or two layers, and a second polarizer in this order, and a backlight section, the first polarizer of the display panel section is arranged in the backlight section side, a distance between the backlight section and the display panel section is 4 mm or less, the first optical element has in-plane retardation Re of 0-10 nm and an absolute value ¾Rth¾ of retardation Rth in a thickness direction of 0-100 nm, and the second optical element has in-plane retardation Re of 30-100 nm and retardation Rth in a thickness direction of 120-300 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
