<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method which can reduce banding (density irregularity) extending in the sub-scanning direction in a recording system in which a recording means is made to carry out scanning and a recording apparatus using the method. <P>SOLUTION: A printing area PA is a printing object region by a recording unit in a sheet (recording medium). First, in the first lateral scan, nozzles arranged in the sub-scanning direction Y are used, the recording unit is moved in the main scanning direction X, and the raster line RL21 (blank circle) of a base image is printed. While it is shifted in the main scanning direction X and the sub-scanning direction Y every one pass, printing of total M passes is applied.
