<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a pattern represented with a difference in luster even from forms varying in whiteness while suppressing the cost of an image reader. <P>SOLUTION: An image reader includes frequency distribution generating means of obtaining luminance image data of a first area 200a of a form 200 by controlling illuminating means and moving means under predetermined read conditions, and generating a frequency distribution of luminance image data of the first area 200a; read condition determining means of determining read conditions of a second area 200b positioned on the form 200 including a pattern 200d downstream from the first area 200a in a sub-scanning direction using the frequency distribution; second area reading means of obtaining luminance image data of the second area 200b by controlling at least one of the illuminating means and moving means under the read conditions determined by the read condition determining means; and extracting means of extracting the pattern 200d from the luminance image data of the second area 200b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
