TRANSMISSION CONTROL DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION, AND CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the response delay of a transmission gear ratio feedback control due to extension of an endless torque transmission member.

SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission shifts gears between a pair of pulleys via the endless torque transmission member trained about the pair of pulleys. The transmission control device performs a feedback control such that the actual transmission gear ratio between the pulleys follows a target transmission gear ratio. The transmission control device determines whether or not an extension dependence transmission condition is satisfied, in which the presence or the absence of the extension in the endless torque transmission member precludes the actual transmission gear ratio from reaching the target transmission gear ratio. When the extension dependence transmission condition is satisfied, the transmission control device restricts the gear ratio feedback control.
