Provided herein are methods for predicting or diagnosing of a predisposition, existence, or recurrence of a triple negative cancer subtype, in particular, a triple negative subtype of breast cancer. Also provided are methods for assessing the progression of a triple negative breast cancer. Also provided herein are methods for determining sensitivity or resistance of tumor cells to particular chemotherapies, and methods for determining suitability of a therapeutic regimen for a breast cancer tumor.
