The air treatment system comprises at least one air displacer 5 suitable for displacing air through the system and a driving apparatus 1-3. The driving apparatus includes at least one drive gear 1 and at least one driven gear 2, the driven gear being drivenly engaged with the displacer such that rotation of the driven gear drives the displacer. The displacer may be a fan mounted on a shaft 4, the shaft being coupled to the at least one driven gear. The driving apparatus may include an AC, DC or EC motor 3. The driving apparatus may be enclosed in a housing 6 to isolate the driving apparatus from an air stream passing through the system. The system may be a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system (MVHR), an air curtain, or an air handling unit. The gears may be bevelled. |
