An open topped container is shaped to taper externally and internally towards a rectangular base to receive a similar container in nesting relationship, Fig. 4, the upper edges of the longer walls 3 having recesses 7 in which the shorter sides of the base of a similar container can be supported in stacked relationship, Fig. 6, when such a container is lifted from its nesting position and turned 90 degrees about a vertical axis. The recesses 7 may extend outwardly to form handles 6. The overall plan dimension across the handles 6 is equal to the maximum dimension between the shorter walls 2. The containers may be moulded from hard rubber, plastic or other suitable material.
