LOSSLESS IMAGE COMPRESSION AND DECOMPRESSION METHOD FOR HIGH DEFINITION IMAGE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A lossless image compressing method for a high quality image, an decompression method, and an electronic device using the method are provided to effectively compress an image than currently used JPEG-LS. CONSTITUTION: A bit stream of a compressed image is decoded. Residual information is extracted(S220). A prediction value about pixels of the image is generated(S230). The minimum value among values, which are made by subtracting a current pixel value from the average of surrounding pixels, is generated as a prediction value of a current pixel. The surround pixels are set in several directions. The image is restored using residual information and a prediction value(S240).
