摘要 <p>A controller 140 for a hybrid electric vehicle 100 having a first actuator which may be an engine 121 and a second actuator which may be a motor 123 operable to drive a driveline of the vehicle. The vehicle having releasable torque transmitting means which may be a clutch 122 operable releasably to couple engine 121 to the driveline. The clutch 122 being operable between a first condition in which the engine is disconnected from the driveline and a second condition in which the engine is connected to the driveline. Controller 140 being operable to control the clutch 122 to transition between a first and second conditions. When a transition from the first condition to the second condition is required the controller 140 being arranged to provide a control signal to the engine 121 to control the speed thereof, the control signal being responsive to the speed of engine 121 and the amount of torque transfer provided by clutch 122. Preferably the control signal is determined using proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control methodology based on the feedback signals obtained.</p>
