<p>A vehicle latch comprising a pivotal latch, retaining ratchet and a detecting sensor, such as a micro switch, for detecting the position of either the latch or ratchet, and a drainage portion for water. In a first arrangement (figure 1, 12) the sensor 200 is on an upper surface and water drainage hole 417 is located under the terminals 202a, 202b of the sensor. In a second arrangement (figure 20) the sensor 300 is located on the underside of a casing 710 such that water runs underneath the sensor.
