<p>PURPOSE: A side member for a car and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to simultaneously increase high-strength characteristics of a middle part and a rear cabin part and shock absorbing characteristics of a front part because each part of the side member is thermally treated by different methods. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a side member for a car is as follows. Steel is composed of 0.15-0.35wt.% of C, 1.50-2.20wt.% of Mn, 0.10-0.17wt.% of Si, 0.05-1.80wt.% of Al, 0.01-0.30wt.% of P, 0.01-0.08wt.% of Nb, 0.10-0.60wt.% of Cr, 0.10-0.60wt.% of Mo, 0.01-0.10wt% of V, and the rest of Fe and inevitable impurities. The side member is composed of a single kind of steel material. A front part(100a), a middle part(100b), and a rear cabin part(100c) are thermally treated.</p> |
