<p>A two-bladed partial-pitch wind turbine and a method of controlling such a wind turbine during high wind conditions are described. The turbine is operable to pitch the outer sections of the turbine rotor blades during extreme wind conditions (i.e. high wind loads) such that the outer blade sections are substantially orthogonal to the inner blade sections. This arrangement acts to reduce the extreme thrust loading experienced by the wind turbine structure during severe gusts (e.g. during hurricane or typhoon conditions), and accordingly reduces the risk of damage to the wind turbine in such conditions.</p> |
