<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out the tone correction processing based on cone response at high speed and/or with a small operational circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus performing tone correction comprises tone correction means (24) for calculating the logarithm tc' of a pixel value of a tone-corrected image so as to satisfy a numerical expression tc'=a×base'+b×white'+c. The base' represents a pixel value of a first image obtained by edge preserving smoothing the image before tone-corrected and then performing logarithmic transformation thereof, the white' represents a pixel value of a second image obtained by smoothing the image before tone-corrected and then performing logarithmic transformation thereof, and a, b and c represent, respectively, a first constant, a second constant and a third constant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
