<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple ladder climbing up/down assisting device capable of reducing burdens on legs and loins during climbing up/down a ladder. <P>SOLUTION: The ladder climbing up/down assisting device 10 for supporting at least part of the body weight of a person P climbing up/down a ladder to reduce burdens on his legs and loins includes a balancer 12 for energizing the person P to be pulled up. With a mounting type harness 14 mounted on the person P, the balancer 12 energizes the person P to be pulled up via the mounting type harness 14 and a wire 16.
