MICROORGANISM PRODUCING HIGH-MOLECULAR-WEIGHT PHA

The present invention was developed from the discovery of a microorganism for synthesizing high-molecular-weight PHA and a method for producing high molecular weight PHA at a productivity of at least 100 g/L by controlling, at 0.1 U/mg-protein or lower, the specific activity of PHA synthase in the cells of a microorganism belonging to the genus Cupriavidus, which is able to produce PHA. The use of this microorganism and this method makes it possible to efficiently produce PHA of a weight-average molecular weight of at least 4,000,000 on an industrial scale.
