<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) cartridge for an energy meter, which allows more advanced energy monitoring that includes two-way communication protocols. <P>SOLUTION: An advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) cartridge includes an AMI cartridge housing having an interior zone 48, and an AMI module system 66 supported within the interior zone 48 of the AMI cartridge module housing.
