<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a control method thereof capable of preventing the deterioration of a shielding member caused by heat, and preventing the occurrence of an image failure and the like. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor drum 309, a charger 310, a drum heater 333, a shielding member 335, a microswitch 343, a CPU340, and the like. If it is detected by the microswitch 343 that the shielding member 335 exists at a retracting position at which it is retracted from between the photoreceptor drum 309 and the charger 310, the CPU340 allows energization of the drum heater 333. Also, if it is detected by the microswitch 343 that the shielding member 335 exists at a shielding position at which it is between the photoreceptor drum 309 and the charger 310, the energization of the drum heater 333 is interrupted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
