<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time for forming an image no matter what shape the image has. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming device from forming a first image by discharging an image forming agent while moving in a scanning direction for first predetermined times, and forming a second image by discharging an image forming agent while moving in a scanning direction for second predetermined times larger than the first predetermined times; a first calculator for calculating a first movement distance for the image forming device to form the first image and the second image; a second calculator for calculating, for each second image, a second movement distance for the image forming device when the number of movements in forming the second image is reduced; and a determiner for determining, based on a ratio of the first movement distance and the second movement distance, whether to allow the image forming device to form an image by reducing the number of movements in forming the second image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
