Various embodiments include a position-based budgeting system that uses the location of a consumer's mobile device relative to one or more merchants to determine relevant budget information to communicate to the consumer's mobile device. For example, when the consumer and his or her mobile device approach or enter a coffee shop, a budget account name and budget information (e.g., how much has been spent for the month and how much is left in the budget) associated with coffee shop purchases is displayed on the consumer's mobile device. The system may also be configured to display gift card balances associated with a particular merchant when the consumer approaches or enters the merchant's store. |
