METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING λ/4 PLATE WITH HARD COAT, POLARIZING PLATE USING λ/4 PLATE WITH HARD COAT, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE, AND STEREOSCOPIC IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a λ/4 plate with hard coat having neither slight streak nor irregularity that may influence the visibility, and to provide a polarizing plate using the λ/4 plate with the hard coat, a liquid crystal display device, and a stereoscopic image display device with improved visibility such as cross talk.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a λ/4 plate with hard coat includes: forming a hard coat layer on the λ/4 plate that includes cellulose acylate having a total acyl substitution degree of at least 2.0 to 2.5, and a compound represented by the following general formula (FA) and having a total average substitution degree of within 3.0 to 6.5; immersing the λ/4 plate in warm water or subjecting the λ/4 plate to a steam process; and then continuously applying the hard coat layer thereto.
