A sealing material for PDP comprises a glass component and a vehicle component, wherein the vehicle component contains nitrocellulose, the content of the vehicle component is 9% to 12% by weight relative to the sealing material, the content of the nitrocellulose is 0.7% by weight or more relative to the vehicle component, and the viscosity of the sealing material is 0.6 Pa·s to 1.25 Pa·s. A production method for a PDP comprises the application of such sealing material on at least one of the front plate and back plate of the PDP. A PDP is provided with a front plate; a back plate that faces the front plate; and a sealing layer that seals the front plate and the back plate, the sealing layer being formed by using the sealing material.
