<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system capable of preventing reduction of a communication response. <P>SOLUTION: An information processing system 1 comprises an in-vehicle communication device 4 and an ECU3 mounted on a vehicle 2, and a center device 5. An ACC (accessory) switch 7 is connected to the ECU3. When a certain period of time or more passes since the last change of a common key, the ECU3 determines whether a predetermined time passes since the ACC switch 7 has switched from ON to OFF. When the ECU3 determines that the predetermined time passes, the ECU3 turns ON the power of the in-vehicle communication device 4 only, creates a new common key using a random number, and transmits the new common key to the center device 5 through the in-vehicle communication device 4 with a public key cryptosystem. Then, the center device 5 updates and registers the received new common key to a common key database 9.
