<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new component for construction of a vertical shaft, which allows a vertical shaft structure to appropriately have less entrained air volume with reduced arrival flow rate of water flowing into the vertical shaft, and a vertical shaft structure constructed with the component. <P>SOLUTION: An upper end and a lower end of an inclined plate 3 arranged in a component 1 for construction of a vertical shaft are respectively provided with an upper connection part 4H and a lower connection part 4L each having a longitudinal slope which is more gentle than the longitudinal slope of the inclined plate 3.
