The differential component (1) has a plate wheel (2) fully or partly shielded against lubrication oil, where a propelled vehicle axle is driven with a drive pinion and the plate wheel via a bevel gear drive. The shielding of the plate wheel is made by a housing, which comprises two housing portions (8, 9) or shielding plates that are rotationally and asymmetrically guided along a longitudinal axis. The housing portions are centered at a side opposite to the plate wheel in two bearing caps (10, 13) and at an opposed side in an axle housing (12). One of the portions comprises an aperture (17).
