<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel engine that prevents lubricating oil from being diluted and efficiently regenerates a diesel particulate filter according to the operating conditions. <P>SOLUTION: This diesel engine includes an oxidation catalyst, a diesel particulate filter, a means for detecting the pressure difference between the upstream side and the downstream side of the diesel particulate filter, and a control means which estimates the amount of the particulates stacked on the diesel particulate filter based on the pressure difference and regenerates the diesel particulate filter based on the estimated amount. The regeneration control of the diesel particulate filter using the control means includes first regeneration in which the regeneration is performed in the active temperature region of the oxidation catalyst without using post injection, second regeneration in which particulates are removed by burning using post injection, and third regeneration in which particulates are removed manually by burning using post injection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
