<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic reproducing head capable of securely attaining high output, low noise and high resolution and a magnetic recording medium reproducing device using the magnetic reproducing head. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic reproducing head 60, which detects magnetic recording information recorded on a magnetic recording medium 150 moving in a predetermined moving direction 160, comprises a flux guide 10 composed of a high-permeability magnetic film in which the moving direction and a film thickness t direction agree with each other and a side surface is exposed at a facing surface of the magnetic recording medium, and a protective film 20 composed of a non-magnetic material disposed so that the guide flux is sandwiched from both sides in the moving direction.
