<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating material which has an excellent heat insulation property and excellent strength at the same time, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The heat insulating material includes fine metal oxide particles having an average particle diameter of ≤50 nm and reinforcing fibers, and has a crosslinked structure which is formed by some fine metal oxide particles dissolved among the fine metal oxide particles. The method for manufacturing the heat insulating material includes: a curing step where a dry press molded body that includes fine metal oxide particles having an average particle diameter of ≤50 nm and reinforcing fibers is cured in a steam saturated atmosphere under pressure at a temperature of ≥100°C; and a drying step where the cured dry press molded body is dried. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
