<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive coloring composition which has a higher content of pigments, or is highly sensitive, has a high film remaining rate even if the film is thick, and is excellent in linearity, pattern shape, resolution, developing resistance, and chemical resistance, and also to provide a color filter using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: An inventive photosensitive coloring composition is provided by using a specific compound as a photopolymerization initiator. Thus, the photosensitive coloring composition forms an excellent color filter segment for each color and a black matrix pattern, which have high pigment content or are highly sensitive and excellent even if the color filter segment of each color and black matrix have thick formed film thickness.
