<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of suitably changing the conveyance interval of a recording medium and preventing the excessive temperature rise in a non-sheet passing region of a fixing belt without lowering the productivity of the recording medium on which a toner image is fixed while suppressing the increase in cost of a fixing device. <P>SOLUTION: The paper passing interval of a storage medium P for conveying to a fixing nip part is changed based on the comparison results between a detection value of an edge temperature sensor 27 and a predetermined threshold value. In addition, the edge temperature sensor 27 detects the temperature at the edge of a fixing belt 21 prior to starting of image formation operation of an image forming job based on the command of the image forming job and the change timing of the paper passing interval of the storage medium P to the fixing nip part is determined based on the detection results.
