The present invention addresses the problem of improving the production efficiency of a target protein in a transformant the host of which is yeast. The present invention provides yeast which shows high expression of MPP1 homologue and more particularly yeast which can use methanol, a transformant which is produced by introducing a gene coding a target protein into the yeast, and a process for producing the target protein using the transformant.
