An aerodynamic pulverizer and method for reprocessing old roof coatings made of reinforced bitumen materials is intended for producing a starting material usable, in particular, for manufacturing new composite bitumen-polymer roof coating materials. Bitumen roofing materials having a differing reinforcing base are crushed and pulverized in the working chamber of the installation by means of two counter-rotating sharp blades with differently directed thrust, said blades being mounted on coaxial shafts, and the bitumen is prevented from adhering to working parts of the pulverizer by a high-pressure inert gas being blown into the working chamber with the objective of cooling (the Joule-Thomson effect) the atmospheric humidity contained in the chamber to a saturation state, wherein aerodynamic cleaning of a calibrating grid having changeable interplate gaps, pneumatic transport of the air-blown mixture and separation of the finished starting material from the latter are undertaken without additional energy expenditure.
