PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set sound characteristics outputted from speakers when a microphone is used with an application in an information processing apparatus which includes an audio device containing the microphone and the speakers.

SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus which is configured to be communicable via a network and includes an audio device having a microphone and speakers comprises: detection means which detects the use of the microphone; sound characteristics setting means which sets the sound characteristics of the speakers so that the sound outputted from the speakers to be the sound suitable for conversation when the use of the microphone is detected by the detection means; and sound processing means which processes the sound to be outputted to the speakers based on the sound characteristics of the speakers which are set by the sound characteristics setting means.
