PURPOSE: A signal driving apparatus and method for controlling signal driving of a traffic signal apparatus using a battery are provided to control on/off and brightness of a traffic signal according to traffic conditions and time. CONSTITUTION: A traffic condition receiver(210) receives detected traffic conditions. A time measuring unit(220) measures the current time. A signal on/off driving unit(230) turns on or off a traffic signal. A signal driving control unit(240) transmits a driving signal to the signal on/off driving unit to turn on/off the traffic signal or control the brightness of the traffic signal when power is not supplied by a main power source.
