827,287. Knitting. SOC. D' ETUDES ET DE PARTICIPATIONS POUR L'INDUSTRIE ET LE COMMERCE DE LA BONNETERIE. Nov. 18, 1955 [May 21, 1955], No. 33099/55. Class 74 (2). Lower cylinder needles which have drawn loops of main yarn under main stitch cam 13 pass over a fixed tucking cam 3 and so do not clear these loops, but hold them with loops of secondary yarn drawn under secondary stitch cam 4, to be cleared with them as the needles pass over clearing cam 9 and cast off with them to form tuck stitches under cam 13. The upper cylinder needles clear and knit at both feeds and half-cardigan rib is thus produced. A movable bolt cam 17 enables lower cylinder needles to clear and knit at both feeds when required. A fixed tucking cam 19 and movable bolt cam 21 enable upper cylinder needles to be operated in the same way. In addition, the provision of fixed cams 24, 26 and a movable bolt cam 25 enable half-cardigan rib to be produced by casting off at the secondary feed. Socks may be produced having legs wholly or partly in half-cardigan rib with a synthetic material e appearing at the outer surface and a natural material d appearing at the inner surface. Wales incorporating linkslinks loops passing near the heel corners, Fig. 3, may be incorporated to combat slipping of the sock on the wearer's leg. The sole only may be in half-cardigan rib and the leg and instep in 1 x 1 rib. |
