<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device able to reduce variation in LED luminance deterioration in a backlight and able to appropriately display a still area of an image. <P>SOLUTION: The image display apparatus comprises: setting means configured to set a light emission luminance value of an LED light for each divided area; detecting means configured to detect a still divided area where the fluctuation range of the light emission luminance value has been equal to or below a threshold for a predetermined period or longer; altering means configured such that the light emission luminance value of the LED light in the still divided area is altered to a value different from the value set in the beginning by the setting means, by a value equal to or higher than the threshold, and the light emission luminance value of the LED light in an adjacent divided area, which is adjacent to the still divided area and has not been detected as a still divided area by the detecting means, is altered to the value at which it has been set as the LED light in the still divided area in the beginning by the setting means; and light emitting control means configured such that the LED light in the still divided area and adjacent divided area is emitted at the light emission luminance value altered by the altering means and LED light in divided areas other than those areas is emitted at the light emission luminance value set by the setting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
