<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical beauty instrument that is highly safe and a handpiece used in it. <P>SOLUTION: The hand piece 2 of the optical beauty instrument 1 is used for depilation, facial treatment, and other beauty treatment having a detachable filter 3 including a body 3b for transmitting emitted light of predetermined wavelength and a frame 3a formed around the body 3b. The hand piece 2 includes: an RF wave antenna coil 16 mounted in the housing thereof; a filter ID memory 17a storing the number of times that the detachable filter 3 is used and other identification information; and an IC tag 17 with an IC tag antenna 17b configured to receive RF wave generated by the RF wave antenna coil 16 and transmit the identification information by use of the RF reflection wave.
