Provided is a method for identifying polymorphism of nucleic acid in a sample solution in which the concentration or the number density of the nucleic acid under observation is lower than with prior photometric analysis techniques. The method comprises: a step for preparing a sample solution which includes a nucleic acid molecule being analysed and a first nucleic acid probe that hybridizes specifically with a single-strand nucleic acid molecule having a first type of base sequence; a step for bringing together the nucleic acid molecules in the sample solution; a step for calculating the number of aggregate molecules which include the first nucleic acid probe in the sample solution, by means of a scanning molecular counting method; and a step for identifying polymorphism of the nucleic acid molecule being analysed, on the basis of the calculation results. The sample solution further includes an oligonucleotide having a base sequence complementary to a base sequence of a type other than the first type from among the polymorphic sequences. |
