Water dispersible cyclocarbonate functionalized vinyl copolymer binder comprises (a) at least one vinyl monomer with at least one cyclic carbonate group, (b) at least one vinyl monomer with at least one emulsifier group and (c) optionally at least one copolymerizable vinyl monomer, which is different from (a) and (b). Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for preparing the binder comprising radically copolymerizing (a), (b) and optionally (c); (2) an aqueous dispersion comprising the binder and water; and (3) a system comprising the binder, water and at least a curing agent, and optionally catalysts, additives and/or adjuvants.
